SCTÂ barricade can eradicate the difficulties associated with blast control at the working face in deep level mining. SCT barricades are in use at many of South Africa's major mining companies, and assist in increased ore recovery.
SCT barricades has been designed for easy handling in stoping conditions and can be erected in less than 30 minutes.
The barricade can then be easily repositioned with each advance of the working face. Positioned just one meter from the blast face the barricade has in practice lasted in excess of 30 blasts and increased the number of blasts in a monthly cycle by three thereby greatly increasing productivity. The prime functions of this blast barricade are firstly to prevent ore being blasted into the back area and secondly to contain as much fine ore (gold) particles as possible.
